Swords & RiflesThis is the spiritual successor of Chaos Reborn. This time around I had an original design and I wanted to improve the graphical look of the game. The game is mix of 2D and 3D. I didn't go with 3D models because I'm not a very good modeller and I enjoy drawing 2D sprites. I used the 2D engine from Chaos Reborn to render the GUI but the rest of the engine was written from scratch. This is when I started seriously using XML as all of the resources are loaded through XML files. I put a lot of work into the engine and making it easy to use. The game itself was never finished. I was hired by a game company and consequentially put this project on ice. The idea was to focus on the weapons. The player would had been able to purchase and upgrade their weapons inbetween missions and the idea was to make the weapons sized in proportion to their strength (big sword = good sword, etc). Hence the enormous weaponry in the screenshots. | ||
