Christmas peril!
We’re getting closer and closer to december and thus christmas. Ironically this has proven to be a huge peril for me. Because I plan on going home to Sweden to spend the holiday with my family and friends.
The tricky part is finding a flight. Christmas is a peak time for airlines and the sooner you book, the better off you are. Especially for christmas.
Adding to the problem was the fact that all of my money have been tied to my singaporian account, and all of my credit cards are tied to my swedish account, which is pretty empty at this point. So I couldn’t book online. I wanted to book online because it’s easier to compare prices between agencies and I rescent all kinds of human interaction.
Last month I started getting worried about the ticket situation and I felt the pressure to getting my thumb out, but this is one of my biggest failures. Whenever I feel pressured for time, I procrastinate. I keep pushing it forward until the pressure is too high that I simply HAVE to drop everything else and just DO it. But at least I went to the bank and signed up for a debit card. I got the card just a few days ago and I decided to finally book my ticket.
I knew it was going to be expencive, because I’ve been so lagging, but BY GOD I didn’t expect it to be THIS expencive. I was on Skype with my mom and she was calling people and I was doing my best to find the cheapest possible ticket.
We tried to book a ticked for 18000kr (roughly 2000 USD) but some questions arose about how I would recieve the paper-only ticket.. but somewhere during that the reality of the price became apparent to me and I just said “Fuck! Screw this! This is TOO expencive. I’d rather wait until January”.
So once again I cleared my mind of any pressure or remorse and went to bed.
This story is already starting to become pretty lenghty, but to quickly summarize the following day; I went to work. I explained my problems to my co-workers, and of course they told me what an idiot I was for not booking sooner.
Michelle pointed me to Malaysia Airlines and lo and behold, they had tickets. CHEAP(er) tickets. So now it’s done. It’s set. I’m going home. On the 18th of december. I will then fly back to Singapore january 7th.
